He was born in Gaffney and was the son of the late John Frank Martin and Louise Reid Martin.
Johnny was a 1970 graduate of Gaffney High School and a 1972 graduate of Denmark Technical College as an electrician.
He was a member of Fountain of Life Baptist Church, Spartanburg, where he served as an usher, a member of the Sunday School, and Men's Ministry.
Johnny retired from Duke Power, Oconee Nuclear Station as an electrician. He was a journeyman electrician.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Wesley Reid and Millard J. Reid.
Surviving are two daughters, Charity Reid of the home and Yolanda Reid of Gaffney; goddaughter, Ivey Littlejohn of Spartanburg, reared in the home; two brothers, Samuel H. Reid (Ida) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Thomas R. Reid (Naomi) of Gaffney; a sister, Juanita Jordan of Woodbridge, Virginia; sister-in-law, Virgie Reid of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Jabria Reid, Jaydin Jefferies, Quodelia Smith, and Tyson Willis, all of Gaffney; great-grandchild, Tavarie Jeter of Gaffney; special friend, Kim Canada, of Spartanburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 21 at 3 p.m. in Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Sarratt officiating.
Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park. He will lie in state Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. in the church.
