Widow of Late Rev. Festus Foster Sponsored Movie Censorship Movement in Kansas

Mrs. Lillie Howe Foster, widow of the late Rev. Festus Foster, died at her residence, 1708 West Fifteenth street yesterday after an illness of several weeks. She was born August 19, 1864, at Hagerstown, Pa., and moved to Kansas with her parents in 1881, locating at Lawrence, where she attended the Kansas University. In 1883 she married the Rev. Festus Foster, whose death occurred May 19 of this year.

Mrs. Foster is survived by four sons: Carol Howe Foster, consul at Vienna; Lt. Commander Paul F. Foster, of the navy; Prof. Ralph B. Foster, of Annapolis; and Festus Finley Foster, Lieutenant in the navy; also two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Foster was a prominent club woman and active in all the things in which women are interested. She was an ardent suffrage worker and at one time was president of the first district federation of clubs. She was a prominent member of the Western Sorosis and the Women's club of Topeka. She took great interest in all civic and reform movements. It was largely through the efforts of the Reverend and Mrs. Foster that Kansas established a moving picture censor board. She was also vice chairman of the Shawnee county Republican committee at the time of her death. She was a member of the Central Congregational church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
