Evelyn Lorene Garrison, of Pauls Valley, was born May 5, 1919 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Charles Burkitt and Mattie (Kirk) Giddens.
She passed away May 18, 2014 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years.
She was raised in Stratford, Oklahoma. On November 5, 1937 Evelyn Giddens was married to William E. Garrison in Pauls Valley and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley. She and her family moved to Oklahoma City where she worked as an Inventory Specialist for Sears for about 25 years until her retirement and in 1990 returned to Garvin County and made Pauls Valley her home.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, William E. Garrison; two sons, Joe Tom Garrison and Billy Charles Garrison; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue (Hickman) Garrison; two sisters, Lois Stevens and Helen Gillespie; and her brother, Clifford Giddens.
Surviving family include her 2 granddaughters, Margo Garrison and Julene Walker, 3 great grandchildren, Taylor Rene Garrison, Linsey Garrison and Jared Walker; her sister, Jackie Sowinski of San Diego, California; nieces and nephews, Cliff Giddens, Steve Giddens, Dennis Ray Gillespie, Karen Bowie, Stephanie Haber, Lisa Simonds, and Brenda Henry with a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Interment will be at McGee Cemetery in Stratford under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
