The death of Mrs. Mary E. Tate, age 77, occurred at the home of her, daughter, Mrs. W.C. LaTourette, 1577 First avenue, Tuesday at 5:50 p.m. Mrs. Tate was born in 1840 in Virginia and while still young she moved to Missouri. While there she was married to Samuel O. Tate, who died about 25 years ago. A few years after her husband's death Mrs. Tate came to Cedar rapids and has been a continuous resident here since. She was a member of the Christian church in Rock City, Missouri. Mrs. W.C. LaTourette is Mrs. Tate's only survivor. Funeral services will be held at the home of her daughter Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetary[sic].
