Virginia Janice Crider, 85, of Topeka, died May 17, 2014 at Brewster Place in Topeka.

She was born Nov. 28, 1928 in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of James Melvin and Mary Valera (Hunt) Heskett.

In 1967, she was married to Lawrence Crider. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Virginia was a school cook for Milford, Junction City and Fort Riley schools, and was a member of the Milford Congregational Church. She enjoyed building dollhouses and furniture for them, knitting, and helping other people. She loved all kinds of music and was an avid reader. Her joys were her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Bill Heskett and four sisters, Dorothy, Marcella, June and Patricia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. May 21 at the Milford Congregational Church in Milford, with Pastor Mike Lacer officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time on May 21 at the church.

Respect calls may be made from noon until 5 p.m. on May 20 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley.
