Carl Bates, 69 of Lebanon, passed away Thursday evening at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.
Carl was born in Dallas, Oregon to Howard and Evelyn (Hemphill) Bates. He lived in Albany most of his life and graduated from West Albany High School. After serving 2 years in the Army during the Vietnam War, Carl returned home to the valley. He lived in Jefferson for a short time, as well as Albany and Lebanon.
Carl liked cars and relaxing at the coast. He never missed coffee with the boys and will be remembered as a friend that you could rely on. If he could help you with anything, he would do it without question.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Carl will privately be laid to rest at the Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery.
