Frank was a teacher prior to being a Civil War Veteran, Corporal & Bugler with the 1st Heavy Artillery Vermont Regiment. GAR member. He was cousin to President U.S. Grant. He visited the White House twice during his lifetime. Once during President Lincoln's term & during Calvin Coolidge. Captured at the Battle of Cold Harbor during the Overland Campaign 1864 and became a prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison in GA. Once he was released and returned home to Vermont and became a dairy farmer and eventually a Court Judge. He moved to Santa Monica, Ca in 1900. When he was 92 yrs old, took a cruise to Alaska and in 1924 took a trip to Havana, Cuba. Frank passed away at the Old Soldier's Home in Sawtelle (Santa Monica)Ca in 1930.
