Bonham- Funeral services for David Windell Mackey, Sr., age 60 of Ector, TX will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Ector Baptist Church. Bro. Norman Melton will officiate the service; interment will follow at Carson Cemetery. David Windell Mackey Sr. was called home to The Lord on May 17th, 2014, Armed Forces Day; which is only appropriate as he was a 23 year veteran of the military.
He was born February 20, 1954 in Rock Hill, SC born to jparents Olin David Mackey and Leona (Sanders) Mackey. David married Tina Litrell on September 2nd in Agana Guam. They were happily married for 38 years. He was employed with the Veterans Administration in Bonham, TX and an active member of Ector Baptist Church he was a devout Christian who served The Lord by going on several mission trips. He served on several committees, acted as the music and Sunday school director. He also served as a Sunday school teacher and AWANA leader for 12 years.
Dave is survived by his wife Tina and sons, David "Junior" and wife Michelle of Ector, TX; Christopher of Watertown, NY and Joshua of Ector, TX. His mother Leona Watts of Rock Hill, SC; Sisters Sheryl Gordon, Francine and husband Randy Leopard, Carol Dorman, and Leslie Rayford; Sister in law Nancy and husband Ken Gallemore. His 8 pride and joys are his grand kids, Allie, Alyssa, Zander, Alana, Gabriel, Jazlynn Mackey, Karlee Eagen and Chase Amerson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Olin David Mackey and twin brothers Johnny Ray and Donny Ray Dorman.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Hicks, Wesley Hicks, Kenneth Gallemore, David Mackey Jr., Christopher Mackey and Joshua Mackey.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, TX.
