Barbara A. Pickens Hamilton, age 77, of Flora, Illinois passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Flora Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center in Flora.

Barbara was born November 8, 1936 in Clay City to Lyle and Ina (McKinney) Stanley. She married James W. Pickens on June 2, 1954 in Clay County. Barbara later married Donald A. Hamilton on January 15, 2000.

She worked for Camcar Aerospace in Rockford for 3 years and was a member of the Sailor Springs Christian Church, working as the janitor for 20 years.

Barbara was also employed by the Clay City Schools as a cook, retiring after 24 years and also did volunteer work at Clay County Hospital. She loved working outside with her flowers, watching the birds, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband: Don Hamilton; three sons: James Randall "Randy" Pickens (wife Barb), Flint Nicole "Nick" Pickens (wife Marsha), Sterling Cortney Pickens (wife Julie); step-son: Bruce Hamiilton; step-daughter: Donna Milner (husband Larry); seven grandchildren: Lee (Shaina) Pickens, Bryan (Sarah) Pickens, Camden Pickens, Stephanie Pickens, Cora Pickens, April Pickens, Madison Pickens; seven step-grandchildren: Brandon Davis, John Craig Lane, Chad (Emily) Milner, Bruce (Jennifer) Hamilton Jr., Chad Hamilton, Jarod (Jennie) Hamilton, Jamie Hamilton; eight great-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving is a special aunt: Irma Ballard.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister (Carolyn Hurd).

The funeral service for Barbara Hamilton was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with interment in Ingraham Cemetery.
