Born March 07, 1945 at Charleston, WV he was the son of the late Okey and Irma Bond Wood.
David was the owner/operator of Woods Quick Mart for 24 years. He was an active member of the Loup Creek Fire Department for over 25 years, thirteen of which he served as Fire Chief.
He was a member of the Fayette County Solid Waste Authority, active in community affairs and was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
A dedicated family man who cherished his wife and girls, his grandchildren were his life.
Survivors include wife, Mary Jane Boardwine Wood, three daughters, Christina Casciani and husband, David of Mount Holly, NC, Amanda Leidner and husband, Neal of Mulberry Grove, IL and Amy Nicole Kirk and husband, Ed of Cross Lanes and seven grandchildren, Jannell, Zachary, Emily, Saran, Samuel, Claire and Lucas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with the Rev. Delmas Wolfe and Rev. Wayne Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, WV with Fire Department honors and military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
