The Rev. William Tracy Waller, 98, Bemidji, died Friday at Northome Nursing Home. Funeral services were at Free Methodist Church. Interment was in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.

The Rev. Waller was born Sept. 19, 1887, in Meeker County, Minn., to George and Ella Waller. He grew up in the Hillman area and worked as a farmer. He married Myrtle Goble Oct. 30, 1909, at Hinckley. They moved to Northome in 1916, and he logged there and in the Dora Lake area. He was a foreman for a Civilian Conservation Camp crew at Rabideau Lake, then for 30 years for Itasca County in road maintenance.

After retiring he served as a lay minister in the Border Church and at Park Rapids. He was ordained at the age of 78 and served 10 years as pastor of Free Methodist Church, Park Rapids. He moved back to Bemidji in 1970 and lived here until moving to the nursing home recently.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Erma (Oscar) Leander, Canton, Ill., Carmen (Woodrow) Davidson, Grand Rapids, and Bernice (William) Erdahl, Bemidji; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two brothers, Vernon and Clifford, Dora Lake; and a sister, Babe Goble, Big Falls.

He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell; a grandson; two sisters; and a brother.
