William Moon ("Billy") was born circa 1836 in Southeast TWP, Orange County, Indiana, near the town of Valeene. During the Civil War he served in Company D of the 66th Infantry Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. He was mustered in August 19, 1862. Billy died of illness on April 24, 1864 in Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee, and was originally buried at Pulaski. In 1865 those soldiers who had been interred in Pulaski were then reburied in Stones River National Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee. Billy was survived by his wife and three children.
