Clyde C. Holland

Clyde C. Holland, 83, of Monmouth, Iowa, died on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, at his home in Monmouth, Iowa.

A graveside service and burial celebrating Clyde's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 28, 2013, from the Canton, Iowa Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Clyde Carson Holland was born on January 19, 1930 in Woodbine, Illinois to Fred Holland, Sr. and Marguerite (Mitchell) Holland. He was educated in the Elizabeth, Illinois area and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge he moved to Maquoketa, Iowa where he worked at Clinton Engines as an engine inspector and met his future wife, Jane Yarolem. They were married on November 19, 1955 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Clyde continued to work at Clinton Engines for 15 years. He then joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #145 working as a groundman truck driver.

Clyde was a 30 year member of the IBEW Local #145, the Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 and the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75. He enjoyed doing small engine repair, the Iowa Hawkeyes, woodworking, reading, and playing cards.

Those left to honor Clyde's memory include his wife, Jane Holland of Monmouth, IA; children, Tracy Holland of Monmouth, IA, Ronnie (Alice) Holland of Rockwell, IA, Cindy Holland of Monmouth, IA, Mary Jo (Dave) Fuller of Monmouth, IA, Richard Holland of Marion, IA, Ed (Joleen) Holland of Wyoming, IA, and Gary (Tammy) Holland of Monmouth, IA; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Ken Holland of Milton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Fred, Jr. and 4 sisters, Donna, Betty Lou, Doris and his twin, Catherine.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Clyde C. Holland memorial fund has been established.
