The Fort Worth Sar-Telegram, February 28, 1942:

Mrs. Evelyn Proctor, a sister of the defendant, was the next witness. She identified herself as an OPA employee. She told about how Mrs. Juanita Barr learned of the affair between her husband and Mrs. Woodall about nine months before the killing an added "she was in tears most of the time."

The Fort Worth Sar-Telegram, February 28, 1942:

Mrs. Evelyn Proctor, sister of Mrs. Juanita Barr, on trial here for the April 12 murder of Mrs. Blanche Woodall, night club dancer, testified Saturday afternoon that Mrs. Woodall declared two Sundays before she was shot fatally in her apartment, that she had no intention of giving up Eddie Barr, former newspaper gossip columnist and estranged husband of the defendant.

The trial, in progress since Monday, was recessed for the weekend as Mrs. Proctor ended her testimony. Defense attorneys said they would conclude their presentation of witnesses Monday by placing Mrs. Barr on the stand.

The state's cross-examination of Mrs. Proctor in regard to her statement that Mrs. Woodall refused to give Barr up was interrupted for several minutes when the witness became faint and seemed on the verge of collapse.

Mrs. Proctor testified the declaration was made in a telephone conversation with her mother, Mrs. Amy Puckett, and that she heard it over an extension phone.

The call followed a visit made by Mrs. Juanita Barr and Mrs. Puckett to the dancer, the witness said, from which her mother and sister returned in a distraught condition.
Married Jack V. Proctor about 1929 (She was age 17 on the 1930 census, and her age at first marriage was 16).

The Fort Worth Sar-Telegram, May 5, 1943:

The Court of Criminal Appeals Wednesday granted Juanita Barr of Dallas a new trial in the slaying of Mrs. Blanche Woodall, night club dancer.

The action was taken, the court said, upon Mrs. Barr's motion for rehearing "for the error (by the trial court) in refusing to restrict evidence of what Evelyn Proctor said in the grand jury room to impeaching purpose."

Married Woodrow Overton Britain on August 20, 1942. Divorced October 9, 1980.
