Manda Ellen Fyffe Friley, 80, of Ashland, Ky., passed away on Oct. 15 surrounded by her loving family in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Manda was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Morgan County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Minnie (Cantrell) Fyffe.

She was dearly loved for her patience, compassion and generous spirit. She was a wonderful cook, famous for her chocolate pie and perfect rolls.

She married her sweetheart, Paul Edward Friley, on Sept. 29, 1947, who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were six sisters and two brothers, Nora Hamilton, Ethel Hamilton, Maude Dawson, Audie Fyffe, Pearl Fannin, Gertrude Hill, Alvin Fyffe and Ola Chaffins.

She is survived by her brother, Direl Fyffe of West Liberty, Ky.; her four children: daughters Patricia Firth and husband Colin of Ashland and Paula Walters of Columbus, Ohio; sons David Friley and wife Shana of Lancaster, Ky., and Richard Friley and wife Diana of Ashland. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Paul Scott, Angela (Hamrick) Huffer, Brett Friley, Ian Friley, James Friley, Holly Friley and John Friley; and two great-grandchildren, Jason Luther and Amanda Huffer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 16 at Miller Funeral Home on Carter Avenue in Ashland. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 by the Rev. Charles Stewart. Burial will follow the funeral service at Rose Hill Burial Park on Friday.
