He was born October 2, 1931, in Windsor, Missouri, the son of Frederick Dockery Hampton and Odes Gertrude (Ransdell) Hampton. On June 30, 1956, in Windsor at the First Christian Church parsonage, he married Katheryn Sue Poole and she survives of the home.
Howard grew up in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1949. He worked for 50 years in chicken hatcheries, in Windsor, including Marti Hatchery, Grain Belt Hatchery, and Rusk Hatchery. He also worked for Lingle Elevator and Beaty Seed Company. He served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Windsor.
In addition to his wife, Katheryn, survivors include 4 sons, Billy Dale Hampton and his wife Peggy, Hermitage, Mo.; James Dean Hampton, Michael David Hampton, and Danny Duane Hampton, all of Windsor, Mo.; a brother, Ross Hampton and his wife Paula, Windsor, Mo.; a sister, Arlice Madole, Windsor, Mo.; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Sara, Ashley, and Kelsy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Clifford Hampton, Bill Hampton, Fred Hampton, Roy Dean Hampton, and 3 sisters, Maurine Null, Essie Mae Bowen, and Kathryn Burcham.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Reverend Justin Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society for cancer research or Twin Lakes Hospice and these contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
