Larry Wayne Christensen , 58 of Rexburg, Idaho died Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Provo, UT.
He was born January 22, 1956 in Portland, Oregon to Norma Zabelle and Wayne Christensen. He is the third child of four children. He has two sisters and one brother that passed away in infancy. Larry was a hard worker from his childhood until his passing. In youth, he worked at a local golf course picking up golf balls and caddying. His love of golf began at that young age. In his adolescent years, he worked at a ladder factory making unforgettable friends with the many Polish immigrants he worked with. Later in years, after doing genealogy, he discovered that many of his ancestors hailed from the same Polish areas as his fellow workers. It was no wonder that he had felt such a strong connection and kinship with those old men, he was one their own.
Larry was an avid and talented skier. The mountains of Oregon were his playgrounds growing up. After gaining more independence, his passion for skiing and sense of adventure brought him to the Rocky Mountains of Utah and Idaho. He raised his children to love the mountains and skiing as he did and had them on skis not long after they took their first steps.
Larry made Rexburg his home and finished his education at Ricks College. While serving as the financial clerk for Bishop Jim Flamm, he set him up on a blind date with a new member of his ward. This particular young lady had her share of unsuccessful blind dates and had had enough. But out of respect for Bishop, she agreed to only one more.
On August 8, 1986 this blind date, Laurie Coyne, married her sweetheart and eternal love, Larry, in the Idaho Falls Temple. This began their Christensen family. In 1989 their first child Sarah Elisabeth was born. In 1993, they welcomed their second baby, Rachel Ann and their last child arrived in 1998, Adam Clark. In April 2014, we added a new son, Bryan Philip Lawson, when he married Sarah in the very temple the family started. Larry loves his wife and children very, very much. They are the very core of joy in his life. And likewise, his wife and children adore him.
He was employed with Rocky Mountain Power where he worked very hard at his career to provide for his family. He sacrificed much of his wants and desires for the benefits of his wife and children. He loved and was honored to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully for many years. Larry was a quiet man with a deep soul. He was the most tender-hearted man who often let his emotions run down his cheeks. He is already missed immensely but we know by priesthood power he has a great mission to accomplish on the other side of the veil. We look forward with anticipation when we will be together again.

Funeral services will be held Thursday May 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lyman LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
