Obituary for Mr. Robert "Bob" Bomar
Mr. Robert Earl ‘Bob" Bomar, age 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Centennial Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Lindsey Wade and Reverend Bobby McGee will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

He was born March 13, 1920, in the Raus Community, to the late James L. and Aetna Gertrude Hix Bomar. He was a veteran of the United Sates Navy and flew in World War II. He was an aviation pioneer in Shelbyville and Bedford County in the development of the Shelbyville Municipal Airport, which today bears his name, Bomar Field. Mr. Bomar was a pilot, airport manager, aviation ground instructor, weather instructor, and manager of Bomar Airways and Bomar Flying Service. He held membership in the Shelbyville Rotary Club, where he was Past President and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Bomar, in 2000, and a brother, James L. Bomar, in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Wilene Sanders Bomar, of Shelbyville; a son, Robert E. Bomar, Jr., and his wife Carol, of Trophy Club, Texas, granddaughter, Elizabeth Bomar Pyle, and her husband Benjamin,; two grandsons, Robert B. Bomar and Chris D. Faulhaber; two great grandsons, Zachary W. Pyle and Pearson A. Pyle; step daughter, Pam Fisher, and her husband Phil, of Shelbyville; step grandson, Brian Brasher, and his wife Tabitha, and step great grandchildren, Jesslyn, Nicolas, and Ruby Brasher.

Memorials may be made to Argie Cooper Library.
