MATHISTON – Bobby Walker Childress, 62, died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at his home in Mathiston. He was born May 31, 1944, in Houston to W.L. and Lucille Holliday Childress. He was a 1969 graduate of the University of Mississippi. He was a retired pharmacist with 24 years of service and the former owner of the Houlka Pharmacy. He was a member of the Kingdon Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Starkville.

A private family graveside service was held Thursday at Marvin Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be at noon today at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora. Bro. John Deanes will officiate.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sara Bland Childress of Mathiston; three daughters, Catherine Aplin (Joey) of Cottondale, Ala., and Rachel Scruggs (Lee) and Cachel Childress of Cumberland; two brothers, Tom Childress (Riki) of Olive Branch and Dan Childress (Carol) of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a half brother, W.L. Childress (Janice) of Crescent Springs, Ky.; two grandchildren, Leigh and Logan Aplin; a special cousin, Robbie Lee Dendy (Sid) of Houston; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Parker Roberson; several nieces and nephews; a very special family friend, Kattie Actkinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack H. Childress; and a nephew, Zachary Childress.

Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, c/o Sylvia Roberson, P.O. Box 146, Mathiston, MS 39752.
