WORLD WAR II & KOREAN WAR VETERAN

James Howard Stark, 86, of Brunswick, died April 2, 1997 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. He was born March 26, 1911 in rural Salisbury to Luther and Mattie Gallemore Stark.
He married Loraine Kruger on Dec. 24, 1946. Jim was in the U.S. Army where he served during WWII as a pharmacist in the Medical Corps from Jan. 20, 1941 to Jan. 13, 1946. He also received the Bronze Star during WWII. Mr. Stark then served as a Conbat Engineer during the Korean War from Oct. 27, 1950 to Dec. 1, 1951.
Jim was a lineman for Kansas City Power and Light from 1946 to 1976 when he retired, was a lifetime member of Rucker Mc-Allister Post #7 American Legion Post, Brunswick, a lifetime member of the Cleve Iman Honorary VFW Post in Keytesville, and a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Karl R. Stark of Kansas City; a sister, Ann Herring of Brunswick; two brothers, Luther Stark of Brunswick and Ray Stark of Keytesville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Woodrow; his wife, Helen in 1988; and a son, James Edward Stark in 1989.
Funeral services were held April 5 at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, Rev. Kathy Morrison officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ralph Kennedy, James Meyer, Wayne Bondy, Charlie Hamilton, Wayne Thoeni and Terry Landers. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Gilkeson and Clyde Bachtel.
