Died aged 76 at Leamington. He was the son of William and Jane Hulton of Deane, the Hulton family were wealthy landownders in the deane area . William went to Cambridge university ,became High Sheriff , was a substantial landowner - coal mines ect. Had a reputation for being tough - was involved in the Peterloo massacre and also the luddites riots in Westhougthon where he arrested twelve men for setting fire to a weaving mill in Westhoughton. Four of the accused, Abraham Charlston,(see memorial 124041732)

Job Fletcher, Thomas Kerfoot 124112072 , were sentenced to hand and Abrahm was only 12.
Paid his workers in tokens to spend rather than in money.

After his death , his son, Willian F. Hulton succeeded him and became the sole owner of The Hulton Colliery Company in 1868 when the partnership was dissolved.
