Private, Company B, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, enlisted in Carroll Co, TN on 8/17/1862 and mustered in Benton Co, TN the same day. Captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN, he spent time in parole camp at Columbus, OH (Camp Chase) where he died on 3/26/1863 of unknown cause. His widow, Sarah E Ward McGill, applied for a pension in 1867. An application for a minor's pension was filed in 1872.
