Jerry Milton Atkins

Jerry Milton Atkins, 83, passed away on May 4, 2014 at his residence in Maben, MS. He was retired from Babcock and Wilcox as a Welding Specialist, where he worked for 41 years and a member of Maben Methodist Church. He was an usher for Mississippi State University ballgames for the Shriners. He was a Master Mason, Shriner, and member of the Eastern Star, and the Chaplain for Boilermaker Union Local 903.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Atkins and Hattie Turner Atkins; and granddaughter, Susan Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Rena Vaughn Atkins of Maben, MS; daughters, Debbie Johnson Nolan of Mathiston, MS, Wanda Atkins Stafford (Robert) of Warner Robins, GA, and Tammy K. Atkins of Maben, MS; sons, Jerry Wayne Atkins (JoAnn), and Barry M. Atkins, all of Mathiston, MS; sister, Mary Nell Willie of Chicago, IL; brother, Lee Roy Atkins of West Point, MS; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Atkins was held Monday, May 5, 2014 from 6:30-9:00 at Welch Funeral Home in Maben, MS. The funeral service was held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Maben United Methodist Church. Rev. J. R. Eaton and Rev. Scarlett Sheppherd conducted the service. Burial was in Maben Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital
