Donna Marie Greer, 76, of Carey, OH died Tuesday May 13, 2014 at her residence.
She was born September 3, 1937 in Carey, Ohio to the late Orville and Flossie Mae (Putnam) Nye. She married John Guy Greer, on May 26, 1956. He preceded her in death.
Donna is survived by her children: Lori Gorman, Carey, John (Cathy) Greer, New Richmond, OH, Bret (Christine) Greer, Adrian, MI, and Mark (Kim) Greer, Van Buren, OH.
She is also survived by three brothers: Reed (Herta) Nye, Ron (Roberta) Nye, Rev. Harold (Joan) Nye all of Carey and a sister, Louise Shaull, Findlay, OH; seven grandchildren, Brian Greer, Tucson, AZ, Matt (Bryn) Billock, Carey, Megan Gorman, Toledo, OH, Adam Greer, Akron, OH, Elizabeth Greer, Downers Grove, IL, Allison Greer, New Richmond and Sarah Greer, Kalamazoo, MI; and four great-grandchildren, Reece and Delaney Billock, Carey and Sophia and Chloe Greer, Tucson, AZ.
Preceding her in death are nine brothers and sisters, Corrine Nye, Esther Risner, Rosella Risner, Leonard Nye, Robert Nye, Annabelle Phillips, Dwight Nye, Carol Walter and Fred Nye.
Donna retired from Continental Structural Plastics formerly Budd Co. in Carey after 31 years as a quality inspector. While employed she was an active U.A.W member and traveled to conventions with co-workers.
She was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation and active with the Rosary Alter Society. She was a 1955 graduate of Carey High School, where she participated in many clubs, organizations and the CHS band.
Donna traveled with JB Tours to many events and enjoyed many Caribbean and Alaskan cruises with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at STOMBAUGH-BATTON FUNERAL HOME in Carey, where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey with Rev. John Stowe OFM Conv. officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary's cemetery near Carey.
