Marie was a claims adjuster at the Bureau of Employment Security for over 15 years retiring in 1991. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace Church and loved animals, especially dogs. Marie also lived in Las Vegas for eight years and enjoyed the casinos.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Martin Gardner; a sister, Elaine Niemic; a brother, Tommy Niemic; and a son-in-law, Larry Darr.
Survivors include five children, Tom Gardner, wife Michelle of Erie, Vincent Gardner Jr. of Erie, Wendy Darr of Erie, Gayle Chiocco, husband Nick of Erie, and Cindy Heberlein, husband Jeff of Albion; two brothers, Stanley Niemic of Erie and Ron Niemic, wife Arlene of Ripley, N.Y.; one sister, Irene DiRienzo, husband Nick of Erie; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
