Mr. Gratton moved from Illinois to Southern California and then to San Jose where he lived for 45 years before moving to Lockeford,
He worked as a carpenter for 28 years, retiring in 1973. For 10 years after retirement, he worked as a landscaper in Lodi.
He had been a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 1418 in Lodi and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Stockton.
His pastimes were outdoor activities, including gardening and fishing.
Mr. Gratton is survived by his wife, Hilda Gratton of Lockeford; a son, two daughters, a stepson nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
