PHOENIX, Ariz. - Ethel Buckland Allen, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona, a former Archer, Lyman, and Rexburg resident, died Dec. 29, 2000, in Phoenix.
She was born June 17, 1907, in Archer to John E. Buckland and Dorothy Reid Buckland. She attended grade school in Sunnydell and high school at Westminster in Salt Lake City. After graduating from Idaho Tech, now Idaho State University, in Pocatello, she taught school in Lyman.
She married Howard Allen June 17, 1927. They farmed in Sunnydell until 1970. For 25 of those years, they owned the Buckland farm ground that was homesteaded by her grandfather in 1883. After living in Rexburg for 14 years, she moved to Mesa, Arizona.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent countless hours researching her family' s history and compiling information. Survivors include one son, John Allen of Kennewick, Washington; one daughter, Sharon Jouflas of Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two siblings in infancy, one sister, Dorothy; and a daughter, Dorothy Bourne.
