A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Laura Mae Clark Posey.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII where he was a High Speed Radio Operator. He was a member of the Tennessee Baptist Church on Pilkeys Creek. He was a former Forest Warden for the U.S. Forest Service.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Zenia Pattie Pilkington Posey; six children, Donna Trent and husband Dr. Wendell Trent of Jefferson City, TN, Zenia Florence Posey of Bryson City, Dorlthy Posey and husband Colin Jenkins of Bryson City, Reona Sanders and husband Roger of Hendersonville, NC, A.J. Posey and wife Carolyn of Bryson City, Nathan Posey and wife Lillis of Bryson City; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Lewis Crisp will officiate with graveside services held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Grave Gap Cemetery.
