Roger L. Sparks, 60, Marion, died at 2:57 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in Marion General Hospital.
He was born in Huntington to the late Arthur and Ruby (Lahr) Sparks, and she survives.
He married Deeann E. Lamb on Oct. 22, 2004. She survives.
Roger was a 1972 graduate from Huntington North High School. He retired from Wiley Metal, Marion, as a welding supervisor. He previously worked at Wayne Metal in Markle.
As a boy he enjoyed farming. Roger enjoyed fishing, baseball, softball, golf and had a love for all animals. Roger was a member of the Amvets Post 5. He also loved spending time with his grandson Braxton.
Survivors include his wife, Deeann E. Lamb, Marion; mother, Ruby Sparks, Markle; children, Caleb (Sara) Sparks, Illinois, and Frances Appleby (Brandon), Florida; grandson, Braxton Hicks, Florida; sisters, Dixie (Mark) Oldham, Markle, Rita Kaehr, Decatur, and Julia (Kenneth Gillespie) Sparks, Marion; father-in-law, Phil Henry, Georgia; and in-laws, Jeff Lamb, Nappannee, Andy (Bonnie) Lamb, Illinois, Steven (Ginger) Lamb, Marion and Monty (Marla) Lamb, Fairmount.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Sparks.
Services are at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with Pastor Ron Hon officiating.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the funeral home.
