"Ben J. Stangel, 76, of Tisch Mills, long active in the area and a member of the board of directors of the Two Rivers Savings Bank died Wednesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

"Mr. Stangel was born March 10, 1893 at Tisch Mills, son of the late Wenzel & Catherine Prausa Stangel. He married Anna Beranek at Tisch Mills November 24, 1926. The couple farmed until retirement 10 years ago.

"A longtime director of Two Rivers Savings Bank, Mr Stangel had served as president of the Mishicot Farm Bureau. In 1947, the Future Farmers of America, Mishicot Chapter, named him an outstanding farmer. He was also a past director of the former County Line Telephone Company and of the Tisch Mills Volunteer Fire Department, as well as an agent of Catholic Family Life Insurance Company.

"He was affiliated with St. Mary Holy Name Society & the Mishicot Council No. 4808 Knights of Columbus.

"Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Ben W., on the home farm, David, who operates a sporting goods store at Two Rivers, & Father Mark Stangel, of Saint Pius Catholic Church, Wauwatosa. He is also survived by three sisters, Sister M. Wenzela of West Point, Nebraska, Mrs William Leahy, of Sauk City, and Mrs Jack Berg, of Milwaukee; a brother, Richard, of Two Rivers, & five grandchildren."
