RIEGELWOOD, N.C. -- Laura Mae Ray, 82, of Riegelwood, N.C., passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011.

Mrs. Ray was born in Bladen County on May 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Edward E. and May Grimsley Maynard. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Albert A "Tootie" Ray and her son-in-law, Jim Harker.

She is survived by her daughters: Berniece Midgett and husband Wayne, Frances Harker, both of Wilmington, N.C., Peggy Taylor and husband Ken of Cary, N.C.

Mrs. Ray was blessed with five grandchildren Teresa McPherson and husband Blue, Travis Midgett, Derek Harker, Jeff Harker and wife Beth and Jessie Lynn Taylor; three great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Wells, Cody McPherson, and Drake Harker.

Mrs. Ray was a long time member of Riegelwood Baptist church, a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 28, 2011, at Riegelwood Church, Reverend Charles Hester, Reverend Larry Knowles and Reverend John Porter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
