Viola Mae Kicklighter Sikes, died Wednesday evening, May 14, 2014, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Bulloch County native attended beauty school in Savannah as a young woman. She married J.W. Sikes and in 1946 they moved to Brooklet. Mrs. Sikes owned and operated a beauty salon at her Brooklet residence for 60 years. Mrs. Sikes was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Mollie Lee Sunday School Class and the Keturah Circle. She was also a member of "The Birthday Club" and looked forward to their regular fellowship. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Sikes; her son, Joel Sikes; her parents, Thomas Watson Kicklighter and Lessie Latzak Kicklighter; and her brother, Levon "Bill" Kicklighter.
