George Howard Cline, 78, of Bassett, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Panther, W.Va., on February 12, 1936, to the late Preston Cline and Mary Lester Cline. He was retired as a machine operator for Bassett Chair.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Cline, Ruby Coleman and Marie Lockheart and two brothers, Andrew and Jeff Cline.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Hankins and Hassie Cline both of Axton, six sisters, Louis Wolfe, Goldie Ramsey, Stella Faye Williams, Margie Carroll and Kathy Unglesbee, all of Bassett and Irene White of Martinsville, three brothers, Kenneth Cline of Ridgeway, Ralph Cline of Patrick Springs and Preston Cline, Jr., of Mich., four grandchildren, Harden Hankins, Jr., Hubert Cline, Crystal Hankins and Kristen Cobb and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Hankins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the Community Funeral Service Chapel of Ridgeway with Celebrant Kelly G. Ratcliff officiating. Interment will follow in the Cline Family Cemetery on Muddy Fork Road, Bassett.

The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in the Community Funeral Service Chapel and other times at the home of a sister, at 1319 Muddy Fork Road, Bassett.

Community Funeral Service of Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
