William H. Webb, after an illness of nine weeks with intense suffering, passed away at his home in this place
Dec. 6. Mr. Webb was born in Lunenburg 79 years ago and at the ago of 19 when the last call for volunteers came, enlisted in Co. K. Eighth Vermont, where he served until the
close of the war. Soon after his return home he married Miss Etta Vance and to this union eight children were born, 6 of whom are now living, Will, Charles. Horace, Ellis
and Addie, wife of Albert Montgomery, all of New York and Cora, wife of Roscoe Sanders of Lakeport,
John and Etta deceased. On Feb. 5, 1889, he married Miss Addie Morse, who survives him. He was
a blacksmith by trade, but was obliged to stop work several years ago owing to ill health. Funeral services were held at the church Wednesday. Rev. Mr. Fuller of Lunenburg and the Rev. Mr. Simpson of Greensboro officiating. He was
a member of the G. A. R., Woodbury Post and there were nine veterans present who assisted in the G. A.R.
service. At the church there were nine W. R. C. ladies present. The floral tribute was large and beautiful.
The interment was at Sunny Side cemetery. Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were:
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Sanders and daughters of Lakeport, Ellis Webb,and Guy Webb of Rochester, N. Y.,
Mr. and Mrs. Burnace Webb of Newport, Mr. and Mrs. George Morse of Littleton, N. H., Mr. and Mrs. Verge Vance of Whitefield, N. H., and Mrs. Isabel Carr of St. Johnsbury.
