Frank Clyde Gaines, 77, died May 15, 2014 following an eight year battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Winterville, Frank was a son of the late Edwin Smith Gaines and Margaret Elizabeth Holcomb Gaines and was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Gaines and sister, Ann Gaines Fowler.

Frank was a graduate of Winterville High School and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. In earlier years, he worked with Anderson Electric Company and Georgia Power. From 1970-1996, he owned and operated Gaines Furniture. Frank was past president of Georgia Home Furnishings Association, an active member of Tuckston United Methodist Church and the Becomer's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Benton Gaines; daughters, Jennifer (Wesley) Sims of Watkinsville and Beth (Dr. Benjamin) Holland of Athens; grandchildren, Mary Kate Sims, John Sims, Tommy Sims, Lucy Sims, Gaines Holland, Hayden Holland and Harris Holland; sister, Nancy Gaines Hamby of Winterville; brother, A.B. Gaines of Sandy Cross and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST, Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Tuckston United Methodist Church with Dr. James Mooneyhan and Rev. Sue Jacobson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hart, Charles Andrews, Vernon Ray, Dr. Henry Amos, Tom Yeargin and Donald Chandler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Harvey, Jason Hamby, Jay Gaines and Drew Gaines.
