Husband of Kathy E. Brandon

On March 27, 2011, Jerry E. Brandon, age 70, of Miller Mountain Road, Lindale, went to be with his most gracious and loving Heavenly Father. He was welcomed into his everlasting home by our Lord and Savior and his loving daughter, Katrina “Tina” Brandon Branton. He was also preceded in death by his parents, A. W. and Susie Dempsey Brandon, and by his father-in-law, Hubert O. Morgan.

Jerry was born in Lindale, Georgia on December 22, 1940. He served in the Army from 1963 until 1966, during the Vietnam Conflict. Jerry is a proud American that has been flying his American flag with a yellow ribbon for the past several years and it will not be taken down until our boys are brought home.

His love of the water brings fun memories for all that came to swim, learn to ski, and cook out. Jerry was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. His eyes would glow to watch a bird dog work a field and point. Jerry was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and was a long-time supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He worked for a number of years as a truck driver. He was a wonderful husband, father, and “Poppie.”

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 43 years, Kathy Morgan Brandon, to whom he was married on June 23, 1967, by his loving son, Craig Brandon, and his wife, Leah, of Cedartown, by three grandchildren that love and adore their “Poppie”, Drake Brandon, of Cedartown, Kurk Branton, of Rome, and Amie Branton, of Lindale, by a son-in-law, Ricky Branton, Rome, by a sister, Glenda Huston, and her husband, Ben, of Dayton, Ohio, by his two special nieces, Gwen Sirmans, of Rome, and Aislin Haney, of Cedartown, and by one great nephew that Jerry enjoyed baby sitting for the last two years, James “Jamie” Hogue.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Locklear and the Rev. Asa Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 until 8pm. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.

Both active and honorary pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday at 12:30pm and include: Active: Scott Gladney, Ronnie Ingram, Brice Wood, Michael Mooney, Larry Mosley, and Randy Hackney.
