Mr. Sherwood R. Jones, 70 of Angier died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at WakeMed in Raleigh. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Higgs and Grace Cook Jones. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Gardner Jones and a brother, Fred Jones. He was employed with Dixie Denning LP Gas for over 15 years until his retirement in 1993.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 5, 2011 at Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church in Angier with Rev. Timmy Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. The family will receive friends at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00—6:00 pm.
Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Tammy Sutherland and fiancé Wayne Gilmore of Lillington, son, Marty Jones and wife Christina of Angier, twin brother, Charles Jones of Fuquay-Varina, sisters, Jenny Jackson of Kipling and Mildred Johnson of Fayetteville.
