Ruby Mae Hawley, 87, of Little Rock, was welcomed into Heaven on September 2, 2016. She was born on October 10, 1928 in Brownsville, Ark. to Lynard Amos and Daisy Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Euell Hawley, and her four siblings, Earman Williams, Jesse Williams, Marie Williams Adcock, and Ovita Williams.

As a young woman, she moved with her sisters from their home on the family farm to find work in Little Rock. She met her husband, a machinist for the Rock Island Railroad and World War II veteran, on a city bus. They enjoyed talking with each other so much that he often missed his stop.

She worked for over 30 years at International Business Forms. After the business closed, she worked for ten years at Kroger's. At the age of 80, she especially enjoyed helping all the elderly customers. Even after mobility impairment and memory loss, she was more concerned about her family than herself. Thanks to hospice care, she was able to make a peaceful journey into Heaven from her own home. Her sweet spirit will continue to be a light for those she loved.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Kennamer and Patricia Hawley, three grandchildren, Andrea Vandervoort, Amber King, and Tyler Kennamer, and one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Vandervoort.

Visitation will be held prior to service beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.) with Reverend Dennis Holmes officiating.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200.
