US MARINE CORPS WORLD WAR II

PRINCETON - Russell Dempsey Meadows, 81, of 113 Radio Lane in Princeton, went to be with his Lord and dear wife on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born April 20, 1923 in Camp Creek, he was the son of the late Fleet and Hettie Justice Meadows. He was retired from the service department at Andy Clark Ford in Princeton. He was a former employee with the Department of Highways in the Turnpike Construction Division, a former timberman and a former coal miner. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2703 and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Ramona Ellison Meadows; three brothers, John Meadows, George Meadows, and Scott Meadows; and four sisters, Annie Meadows, Nancy Ellison, Dallas Hatcher, and Cleo Thompson preceded him in death.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Thomas of Princeton and Deborah Belcher and husband Robert of Switchback; one son, Russell Wayne Meadows of Princeton; nine grandchildren, Pastor Dallas Peyton Jr. and wife Cindy, Heather Mullins and husband Cameron, Misti Wellman and husband Joey, Jill Shumate and husband Brian, Robert Lee Belcher, Brenda Sue Foland and husband Norman, Billy Hicks and wife Jennifer, Dwight Hicks and wife Dawn, and Stacy Hicks and wife Kara; and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Orville Harvey and Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Mercer County Veterans Council conducting military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today.
