Born June 30, 1917, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late James Fisher Hester and Pearl Bolick Hester.
A member of Abernethy Memorial Methodist Church in Newton, she was a homemaker and a life member of the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Vance Houston; a grandson; three brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Paul Birner and Paul Sundbom at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
