Frederick G. Benson, 82, of Falmouth, formerly of Mashpee, passed away peacefully at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich on May 10, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia E. Benson and the son of the late Frederick and Marceline (DuBerger) Benson. Frederick graduated from Concord Public Schools. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. For many years, he provided the security and transportation for the Consulate General of Canada and visiting dignitaries. Frederick was an avid automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed driving all different style automobiles. He also enjoyed spending his summers on Cape Cod and his winters in Sarasota, FL. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Frederick is survived by his daughter Sylvia LaRocca and husband John of Tewksbury, his stepchildren, Suzanne Markham and husband Harold of Virginia Beach, VA, Francis X. Ahern Jr. and wife Deborah of Mashpee, Maryellen Quinn of Laguna Niguel, CA, Caralyn Good and husband Mark of Norfolk, his sister Janet Benson of Maynard, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee on Thursday May 15, 2014 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. A funeral service will follow at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the McCarthy Care Center 73 Service Rd. Sandwich, MA 02537.
