Dr. B.G. "Doc" Odell, 88, of Freelandville, IN, passed away May 7, 2014 at the Freelandville Community Home. He was born July 29, 1925 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Walter & Velma Tucker Odell.

He was a long time physician in the Freelandville/Bicknell area serving his patients with compassion and caring for over fifty years. He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class. After his service he entered college to become a family practice physician.

He married Patsie A. Ward and they made their life together for 60 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW, American Osteopathic Association of Indiana, Moose, Bicknell Elks, Edwardsport Masonic Lodge, and Terre Haute Shrine and was a member of the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Patsie A. Odell, their two daughters, Debbie Telligman, and her husband Steve of Freelandville, IN and Sherri Koers, and her husband Dale Koers O.D. of Escondido, CA his grandchildren, Brett and Anna Telligman, Shawn Telligman, Kyle and Jenni Telligman, Evan and Krista Telligman and Amy and Frank Rogers; his great grandchildren, Elsa, Abram, Adyn, Emma, Andrew and Kiara Telligman

He was preceded in death by three children, Kimberly, Cynthia and Michael W. Odell, his parents, three brothers, Walter Odell, Richard Odell, a brother in infancy and a sister, Sandra Ohlsen.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 12:00pm at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Mike DeCoursey officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Freelandville Memorial Cemetery with military gravesite honors conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's charity of choice.
