Ruby M. Alderson, 83, of Prince George, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at her residence. Born in Clarion, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Nancy Davenport Mack, and was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Alderson Sr. Mrs. Alderson retired from Civil Service at Fort Lee. She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Alderson Jr.;and wife, JoAnne a daughter, Sue Gravel and husband, Joseph E. of Disputanta; five grandchildren, Donetta Dalton of Matoaca, Cassy Paminiano of Enon, Bree Alderson of Richmond, Melissa Privitera of Gordonsville, and Brandi Gwinn of Punta Gorda, Florida and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday July 14, 2011 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Petersburg Ward, 1800 Johnson Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with Bishop Londo Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg Virginia 23805.
