SHREVEPORT – Services for Mrs. Julia Grimmet Fortson, 75, of Shreveport will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in Frost Chapel, First Baptist Church. Dr. William E. Hull, pastor, will officiate, and Dr. N. O. Pugh, minister to senior adults, will assist. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home's Marshall Street Chapel.

Mrs, Fortson, a native of Dyersburg, Tenn., died Aug. 24, 1985, in Schumpert Medical Center following a short illness. She had been a resident of Shreveport since 1932 where she was a housewife, and member of the First Baptist Church for 50 years. She was past president of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, member and past president of the 20th Century Literary Club, and a sustaining member of the Junior League. She was a Louisiana Delegate to the Republican Convention in 1936, and formerly active in the Shreveport Little Theatre. She was a 1932 graduate of Agnes Scott College of Atlanta, Ga. and member and past president of the Shreveport Agnes Scott Alumnae Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Marian Fortson Sakalauskas of Big Rapids, Mich., Elizabeth Fortson Wells of Alexandria, Va. and Louise Fortson Kinstrey of Shreveport; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marshall H. Walker, H. W. Saunders, Gen. John Spencer Hardy, Wellborn Jack Sr., James L. Fortson, and William H. Holt. Honorary pallbearer will be Bernard A. Rothschild.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or charity of donor's choice.
