Resident of Hayward
Paul E. "Mac" McDonnell passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 following a valiant struggle with many health-related issues. Born in Oakland, and a graduate of St. Elizabeth's High School, Paul wa a veteran of 30 years of service in the U. S. Navy, and, following his naval service, worked for the San Lorenzo School district from which he retired in 1999. Paul was everybody's helper and buddy, always taking time to care for and be a real friend to others. He loved to share a story, joke or a trip to Grayton or the Rancheria. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brother, Robert A. McDonnell, Sr., his sister, Ruth A. McDonnell, his nephews, Robert Jr. (Elizabeth), Thomas (Heather) , and Joseph (Christina) McDonnell, and many great nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, 1100 Fulton Ave., San Leandro, CA 94577 on May 12, 2014 at 1:30pm.
