John served as a Private First Class, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Belknap County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 17, 1940, prior to the war, in Concord, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of automobiles and also as Single, without dependents.

John "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army at POW Camp 4, O'Donnell, Tarlac, Luzon, Philippines during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in the Alton Cemetery, Alton, New Hampshire and was re-interred here in June, 1954 by his Father's request.
