Elizabeth Hardy Hutcheson, the widow of Dr. R. Bridgforth Hutcheson and a former resident of Kenbridge and Chase City, Virginia, died peacefully at her home in Richmond on May 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Louis Atkinson and Lizzie Goodwyn Hardy, born April 13, 1918 in Lunenburg County. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Retta H. Blackwell and her brother Louis A. Hardy, Jr.

She is survived by her sister Eugenia H. Carpenter, her daughter Elizabeth H. Davis and her husband Peter, her daughter Eugenia H. H. Lucyk and her husband Gregory, her granddaughters Sarah Eugenia Hutcheson Davis and Eliza Leckie Hutcheson Davis and her step grandson James Gregory Lucyk.

Mrs. Hutcheson graduated from Longwood College and taught school in Lunenburg County. She directed the Red Cross office in Chase City in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was a tree farmer in Mecklenburg and Charlotte Counties and, in 1994, was recognized as the Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year in Region IV. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a life member of the Chase City Fortnightly Club. She was a strong and loving person who was devoted to her family and friends.
