Gladys Rice

Gladys Irene Rice, 94, of Springfield, passed away May 12, 2014 of heart failure. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 16th at 2:00pm at Norkenzie Church of Christ.

Gladys was born September 25, 1919 in Ellis County, Oklahoma to Henry A. and E. Minerva (Stephens) Beltz. When Gladys was six years old, the family moved to Grants Pass. On June 19, 1940 in Eugene, Oregon, Gladys married Leonard Rice. In 1948, they moved to Springfield. Gladys attended secretarial school and worked for the Springfield School District for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and spending time with family.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 2001; a son, Larry Rice and a daughter, Sandra Cutting. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Bodenhamer of Springfield; a son, Vern Rice of Bend; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Signature Hospice of Eugene. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
