Roberto G. Chavez, 83, of Moline, passed away Sunday, May 11th, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be at St, Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.
Roberto was born March 23rd, 1931 in Salvatierra, GTO, Mexico, the son of Alberto and Maria Guzman. He married Maria Almanza on April 12th, 1958 in Salvatierra.
He was employed at the Rock Island Railroad as a machinist.
Survivors include his wife, Maria, Moline; daughter, Estela Chavez Savala, West Des Moines, IA; son, Robert (Robin) Chavez, Poplar Grove, IL; grandchildren, Xavier & Irma Savala; step-grandchildren, Cody & Logan Schatz and brothers, Ricardo, Alfonso, Jesus & Jose Luis Chavez.
