GALVESTON - Anita Laine Bentinck, age 70 of Galveston died on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral mass is set for 2 pm Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Paul Flajole, OFM officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5 pm until 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 7 pm.

Anita was born in Galveston, Texas on April 3, 1934 to Charles Lenius Laine, Sr. and Anita Ophelia Skarke Laine. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Ursuline Academy in Galveston, The University of St. Thomas and was an avid reader, a devoted wife and mother. A life long parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church, she belonged to the Ursuline Alumnae, St. Patrick’s Altar Society, the Shamrocks, the Order of Martha. Her parents dedicated her to the Blessed mother and in her honor she was dressed in blue and white for the first seven years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, John C. Bentinck, Sr. a baby girl Anne Elizabeth, and brothers, Charles, Jr., Donald Laine, Sr. and Randall Laine, Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Bember and husband Ray of Houston; sons, John C. Bentinck, Jr. of Galveston, Jim Bentinck and wife Teresa of Grand Prairie, Texas and George Grover Bentinck and wife Linda of Galveston; sister, Patsy Scroggins of Friendswood; brother Dale E. Laine, Sr. and wife Marilyn of California; brother in law, David C. Bentinck of Houston; grandchildren, Robert and George Bember, Jimmy, David S., and Johnny Bentinck, III, Chandler and Summer Bentinck; devoted and loving caregiver Shivera Handy of Galveston, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Bember, George Bember, Jimmy Bentinck, Johnny Bentinck, III, David S. Bentinck, and Chandler Bentinck.
